This session is grounded in a simple truth: testing environments require data that mirrors production as closely as possible, while still meeting security and compliance requirements.

We’ll cover:

• What real-world data is, how it’s obtained, and why it remains the most valuable source for testing.
• Its technical benefits: real user behavior, referential integrity, aging data, realistic distributions, and more.
• The risks and limitations if it’s not properly managed (e.g., anonymization, traceability, privacy).
• Why synthetic data, or “fake data”, has gained traction, and where it still falls short in terms of realism.
• The technical limitations of traditional synthetic data (lack of historical depth, edge cases, volume, variability).
• How we generate model-based synthetic data with icaria TDM: realistic, secure, scalable, and tailored to each testing need.
• When to use each type of data and how combining both improves test coverage, reliability, and control.
